I used basic references to get the general anatomy for the sketches. As this was not a character design assignment, I stuck to a simple drawing instead of a more creative character exploration.
Process

I started with a rough sketch to map out the main shapes of the body and the basic proportions using the 8 heads rule. I also checked the proportion by ensuring the hands reach the mid-thigh and the elbows sit at the waist. There are a few issues with the proportion that were fixed in the next layer such as the near shoulder on the blue sketch was too far from the body and the shoulders on the front facing drawing being slightly too broad.

This sketch still has rough lines, but the anatomy of the muscles is more defined and guidelines for the facial features have been put in place. A full side profile sketch has also been added.
Outcome

The final product is a sketch with solid outliners and facial features and hair mapped out as well as some basic muscle definition on the torso. On the 3/4 view the waist is slightly too wide.
Further Exploration

To gain a further understanding of anatomy I also did some sketches of more poses starting on paper then photographing them and drawing over them to create a digital piece.

These two pages of my sketchbook were explorations into gestural drawing with the goal to capture the flow and motion as the initial turn around I created was stiff and not dynamic.
