Final Outcome

Unfortunately in these renders you can’t really see the fingerprint I added to the screen so if I were to go back and re-texture this asset i would make it less subtle.

I adjusted the exposure of the lights to stop it from washing out the colours on my asset but turned them down too far however these failed renders do show the emissive texture on the eyes well so I decided to keep them on the blog.

Lighting Set Up

For my studio set up I used two lights at the front to create a flta light set up and added one behind the robot to get some rim lighting.

I created the backdrop by adding a box wave to a plane and turning up the noise as I felt it made for a more interesting backdrop that fit the sci-fi theme. I also gave the base a shiny black texture to go with the backdrop and theme.

In order to use this lighting set up when i rendered the turn around video I turned the asset and its platform instead of moving the camera.

I added extra lights for my close up renders for when I positioned the camera around the side of the asset.

Storyline

The storyline for this asset is that its a robot created by a lone scavenger who’s living in a post-apocalyptic dystopian world. The robot is an attempt at making a companion after living without seeing any other people for years on end and having no idea if he is the last surviving member of the human race. Although the character tries to remain indifferent to the loneliness the creation of the robot shows that there are some feelings about it being pushed down.
