Idea generation

Initially I was drawn towards the sci-fi and fantasy themes as they felt like an opportunity to be more creative.

I brainstormed two different sci-fi robots one being a server robot that would have a tray with cocktails glasses on it if it was utopian or be broken and knocked over for dystopian and a robot made from scrap by a scavenger.
The server robot would be in a large futuristic hall or lobby with decorations and depending on whether I chose dystopia or utopia would either be destroyed and messy or clean and decorated.
The environment for the scrap robot would be a scavengers cabin in the woods or mountains. It would be an engineers workspace as well as a living space so it would have basic furnishings as well as extra tech and tools.
For the fantasy possessed statue I imagined it in a castle environment or an old grand stone building that’s fallen into disrepair with the corruption of the statue seeping into the surroundings.
For the giant plant the environment would be a large fantasy greenhouse full of plants and magical looking objects, I’d use particle effects to create fireflies or magic sparks around the main plant asset I created.
Research
Sci-fi scavenger cabin in the woods

This alpine cabin would be home to a sci-fi hermit scavenger whose surviving on scraps since an apocalyptic event wiped out the majority of the human race.
The cluttered cosy interiors in these inspiration images would contrast with the large open landscapes outside and would be something I would aim to reproduce in my own environment.

The fantasy greenhouse would be filled with plants with magical properties
Sketches

This is a sketch of a landscape I came up with in a dream; it’s a never-ending shallow sea with smooth rocks stacked in towers scattered across the vast ocean. It could be a sci-fi environment of an alien planet or a transformed Earth in the far future.

I generated these images using an Nvidia’s AI landscape painter that allows you to sketch in different parts of a landscape like rocks, the sky and water as I knew I wouldn’t be able to find reference images that looked the way I imagined this landscape.

This is an initial sketch of where a plant asset would go in a fantasy greenhouse environment.

This rough sketch shows the basic outline for my sci-fi idea for a scavengers cabin in the woods, this would be fitting a sci-fi dystopian theme and would be set after apocalyptic events which either caused the majority of people to evacuate the Earth or perish.

This painting shows the main colour scheme I plan on using for the external environment as well as a clearer depiction of the layout. I intend for the cabin to be on the slope into a valley so to the right of this image there would be another mountain in the environment.
Block Out

I created this block out using the modelling tool to pull shapes out of the ground, I then added one of the basic materials to it.
Cabin floor plan

The bottom floor will be two rooms one being the majority of the space with a smaller one behind for a bathroom. The main room will have desks in the front corners as work stations for building electronics and fixing up items.

The second floor is a mezzanine overlooking the first floor with a bed, a table and storage crates.
Lighting Plans
For the lighting I want to create contrast in the temperature of the lighting between the inside and the outside of the cabin. I’d like the natural lighting outside the cabin to be a cool greenish blue with the interior lighting a warm yellow. This could be symbolic of the cabin being a refuge from the dystopian world outside.
